Nuhu Ribadu Decamps From APC To PDP

There are strong indications that a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, leaves the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and joins the camp of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to PremiumTimes, who spoke to a member of PDP executive committee in Bako, the ward of ex EFCC boss in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Ribadu had been registered as PDP member and the party membership card had been issued for him.
The source pleaded for anonymity, because of the sensitive nature of this information.
It was not possible to reach either Ribadu or his spokesperson, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, at the time of filing the present report. The official confirmation by the ex anti-corruption chief is awaited.
Ribadu used to be a presidential candidate of the platform of the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) during 2011 elections. Until today, he has been considered as one of the presidential prospects of the main opposition force of the country for February 2015 presidential elections.
It has been previously reported that the leadership of the ruling party, led by PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, mounted pressure on Ribadu to join the party in a bid to win Adamawa guber poll, scheduled for October 11.
The before-time election became possible after APC’s Governor Murtala Nyako was impeached by the State Assembly in the middle of July 2014. ‎
The Acting Governor, Umaru Fintiri, and a son of a former PDP National Chairman Bamanga Tukur, Awwal Tukur, have marked their clear intentions to seek the PDP governorship nomination for the election. An ex military administrator of Lagos state, Buba Marwa, is also interested in Adamawa guber race.
